Job Duties:

  • Plan, research and implement new cloud / hardware / software solutions in both local and remote regions, offices, and data centers
  • Participate in high level technical discussions and decisions with internal teams and external vendors
  • Serve as an Azure technical resource in team's efforts to determine the needs of our businesses that will simplify and automate the applications.
  • Design, development, and hands-on implementation of Azure cloud solutions
  • Design, architect and develops Azure Cloud Services, Cloud Infrastructure - Implements and migrates on-prem to Azure Cloud Services
  • Align solutions with standards and best practices working with cross-functional engineering and consulting teams
  • Serve as an expert Azure technical resource
  • Commonly utilized technologies in this role will include:
    • Azure Cloud Services, Azure Virtual Networks, Azure Network Security Groups - Works with Azure Site Recovery and Azure VM Backups
    • Azure Resource Manager Subscription, an ARM with Azure Site Recovery ASR
    • Azure PowerShell
    • Systems Engineering including managing, troubleshooting cloud, and virtual servers - Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V
  • Defines product requirements and creates high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems/platforms.
  • Design and assist in the implementation of Citrix XenApp farm including installing and publishing apps, administering Citrix servers, managing, and deploying Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and associated custom GPO templates for the virtual environment.
  • Configure and support Citrix NetScaler Load balancers and Access Gateway solutions to support scalable delivery of applications and desktops to various endpoints.
  • Collects, evaluates Citrix services quality and proactively identify any significant network, hardware and software component failures.
  • Provide application installation and troubleshooting of Citrix XenDesktop suite of products, such as provisioning server, desktop delivery control, virtual desktop images/target devices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the virtual infrastructure
  • Assist in the design and implementation of the XenApp farm
  • Write/update technical documentation such as system documentation, and training materials.
  • Assesses change implementation options, benefits and risks, and recommends most appropriate direction.


  • Unix background and/or having been in VMware/Windows/Citrix architecture role
  • At least 5 years of relevant architecture experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with all audience levels, both in verbal and written
  • May serve as lead and may oversee the work of other technical staff (preferred)
  • Available to be in on call rotation for a retail setting -- e.g. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays
  • Detailed knowledge of Citrix technologies including XenApp 7.x, Netscaler 10.x, networking and system interdependencies
  • Azure IaaS Virtual Machines/Azure VM Scale Sets (Windows/Linux)
  • Cloud Native Back and Recovery Tools (Azure Backup, Recovery Service, Azure Site Recovery)
  • Azure PaaS services: (Azure SQL, Azure Cache for Redis, and Azure Cosmos DB)
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure Active Directory and Domain Services.
  • Azure Monitor or other cloud native monitoring tools and with Azure Security Center.
  • Azure Multifactor Authentication (MFA).
  • Azure networking (VNET peering, Azure App Gateway, Azure Load Balancers, and Azure Traffic Manager, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute)
  • Different licensing and subscription vehicles (Microsoft Enterprise Agreements or Cloud Solution Providers)
  • Hybrid-IT configurations and integration with one or more on-premises data centers and Azure.
  • PowerShell or the Azure CLI.
  • Azure AD Connect and directory synchronization.
  • Serverless computing (Azure Functions, Event Grid, Service Bus)
  • Azure container services offerings.
  • Cloud Computing platforms (Microsoft Azure mainly, AWS is secondary)
  • Infrastructure architecture of DNS, Active Directory and other Directory Services implementations
  • Active Directory Certificate Authorities, Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS)
  • Application / Disaster Recovery solutions for existing platforms (AIX P-series, VMware, Citrix, Windows, Windows Hyper-V, and OpenVMS)
  • Proven abilities in designing and developing infrastructure solutions across storage, servers, virtualization technologies, and networking
  • Advanced skills in troubleshooting and isolating network, server and system performance issues
  • Ability to participate in projects or technology implementations with minimal guidance, partnering with vendors and engaging other technology teams, key stakeholders and users
  • Understanding of cloud migration, data center migration, and server consolidation activities
  • Demonstrated ability to logically approach and solve complex technical problems
  • Ability to work well with others, will ones to teach and others as well as learn from fellow coworkers
