Job Description

As a Buyer for Rooms To Go, this is a phenomenal chance to get your foot in the door with America's fastest growing independent retail furniture company. Will have a keen understanding of market dynamics, combining analytical thinking and organizational ability to curate products and bring these to consumers. You will work closely with a very passionate and collaborative group of team members. We are a high-volume business and cover several different categories within Rooms To Go: Upholstery, Case Goods, Mattresses, Outdoor, Kids, and /or Accessories. We work hard and we have a great Merchandising team.

Responsibilities:

  • Makes product recommendation and selection in collaboration with Merchandising executives and buyers
  • Responsible for researching product and style trends
  • Modifying store lineup, and executing store replenishment
  • Maintain merchandise flow, inventory projections, sales and store analytics and preparation
  • Will assist with maintaining the online store merchandising
  • Perform market analysis and analyze sales performance to keep abreast of current trends
  • Identify emerging trends and develop business strategies against competitive landscape
  • Utilize historical sales data to generate new Purchase Orders and forecast product flow
  • Work to provide smooth flow of goods into multiple distribution centers
  • Assist in development of business tools and processes to capture and monitor metrics for supply chain processes in order to make profit-generating decisions
  • Partner with various business stakeholders in Logistics, DC Operations, and various internal organizations to drive efficiency in inventory management
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of supply chain best practices
  • Analyze raw data about sales, customer behavior, and market trends to generate forecasts and find business opportunities
  • Manage all aspects of vendor performance to maximize profitability and achieve corporate objectives

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in furniture retail buying and/or retail supply chain
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Retail Merchandising, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of general merchandising and inventory management experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate to advanced level Excel)
  • Proven successful negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence and develop consensus with teams not in a direct report alignment. Ability to deal effectively with all management levels
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across several lines of business
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a team environment
  • Must exhibit customer focus, time management skills, a professional demeanor and positive attitude
