Position summary

As a member of the cloud storage / Unix team, the UNIX/Linux Architect will be responsible for Administering the UNIX/Linux environment in the IBM cloud as well as the on-premise machines. They will work with the team on storage, backups, replication, and disaster recovery in the Azure cloud.

Essential Duties and responsibilities


• Implements and consults on server installations and upgrades in accordance with IT policies and procedures.

• Handle configuration, systems performance analysis, and optimization.

• Create scripts for monitoring systems and automation.

• Providing problem and incident management along with chronic issue remediation plans and execution.

• Providing day-to-day remediation of risk and compliance issues in the environment.

• Supporting key technology initiatives including virtualization, data center, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.

• Performing duties following all company standards regarding engagement, change management, and escalations.

• Escalating issues to vendors and providing root cause analysis and incident reports.

• Providing timely resolution to support issues.

• Work with a dedicated 24x7 operations team, engineering new ways of efficiently triaging events generated by the monitoring tools.

• Creation and maintenance of KB and SOP documents.

• Monitoring and maintaining the IBM and Azure cloud environments

Candidates need to have verifiable expertise with:

• AIX V6.1 or higher

• Red Hat Linux

• AIX Network Installation Management (NIM)

• Red Hat Satellite

• Power HA

• Linux Clustering

• Power VM

• VIOs

• Hardware Management Consoles (HMC)

• PERL and Shell Scripting

• Apache and ecommerce

Candidates should be familiar with:

• Automation

• IBMNetApp SAN Terminology and technology

• Working as a member of a large enterprise IT team

• LANWAN, IP (TCPUDP) addressing and troubleshooting

• Mentoring others

• Time management in relation to assigned projects

• Familiarity with VMware vSphere 5+, Virtual Center, and related hypervisor technologies

Education and Training

• 7-10 years of work-related experience with UNIX/Linux

• IBM/Azure cloud experience
